A Note on Email Updates

You will notice a new box on each of the blogs--"Subscribe to get email updates"--or something to that effect. If you enter your email in that little box, click the button, enter a code, reply to an email they send you, you SHOULD get an email update once a day (between 3-5p) if there are updates to the blog -- which there will be.

This is just one more way to (hopefully!) make your life easier! (And reduce reminder emails from me :) )

You can also keep checking the blog--since they will only send out one email per day.

Onward!

Check your blog and even newer technology!

Hi all!

You may have realized that you haven't gotten many reminder emails from me in awhile! I'm experimenting with laying off the emails--to see if you'll check your child's class blog. :)

You may notice, when you check your blog that you'll see a new little green window up there in the right corner under a title "Audio Updates from Matthew." I have discovered a website called gcast.com that will let you phone in a podcast and stores your files for free. Podcasts are those things you've heard about in iTunes. Now, you could go and "subscribe" to this, but for now, just know that every day I'm going to phone in a message about homework for all of my morning classes and post it online on the blogs. If you click on the Play Button, it will play the latest message -- but it will keep playing the old messages as well. If you click on the "Posts" button, you'll see the list of podcasts I've made so far. (The two earlier ones are just test messages.)

We'll see about the future of these podcasts. Maybe we'll link it up through iTunes so yall can listen to me on your iPod! Ha!

Just another way to help keep you informed. :) Have a great weekend!

We've Moved!

Alrighty. Just when you thought it couldn't get any cooler, I've decided to move us over to where my other blogs live. The pros are the are associated with Google, and the con is I can't stand messing around with WordPress anymore. So there.

So, you'll only need a google account--but the cool thing is now that you don't even have to have a google email! You can just "create" a google account with your regular old email address. To sign-up, go here.

Once you've done that and you are ready to post, just go to our blog (http://jacobsmathlog.blogspot.com) and click "New Post" - Log in - and do your thing. Much, much easier.

Delay (Jan 17)

As of 6:07 this morning, we are on a 2-hour delay. Kody–make your post

Don’t forget your money for breakfast tomorrow. And remember to bring your books–we’ll work while we eat.

Today's Class... a little joke on Asante (Jan 10)

What we did today (Jan 10)

-Today we played a prank on Asante and said we had finished Jacobs, and were in the middle of Algebra. Haha sorry, Asante!- We are about to start lesson 4, and we read over the introduction. It’s kind of confusing, so make sure you know what’s going on. -The new video is not an actual lesson. It is what we did to Asante, don’t worry. -NO HOMEWORK TONIGHT, HAVE FUN!!!

Ch 8, Les 3, Set I - How is she one in a billion? (Jan 9)

Classwork & Homework for 1/9/08 (Jan 9)

Today we worked through Set I ( of Lesson 3, Chapter 8 ) together with Matthew.

Remember that our homework is Chapter 8, Lesson 3, Set 2, #s 1-20!

Trying Out Technology! (Dec 7 07)

A few kids needed to make up the last test we did and they went off to do that first.

We’ve found ourselves a few days ahead (compared to where I thought we’d be) and we’re going to use this opportunity to try out some new technology–screencasting. We’re going to be using it to create movies on the Fundamental Counting Principle, permutations, and combinations. I’ll let you know when/where/how it goes!!!

December 7th & 10th (Dec 11 07)

Today and Friday we worked on Screencasts on Combinations, Permutations, and the Fundimental Counting Principle. How did this get started? Matthew found out about the website “TeacherTube” and found that they didn’t have ANYTHING about the FCP, Permutations, or Combinations! He suggested that we make our own videos about them to put up on “TeacherTube”, that is what those links under this post are. Enjoy, we worked hard!

HW (Dec 13 07)

HW tonight is #s 1-19 of Lesson 1, Set 1, Chapter 8.

The Monty Hall Problem (Dec 14 07)

The Shell Game... by us! (Dec 14 07)

Welcome Back (Jan 8)

Today we shared about our breaks and agreed that we would start Lesson 3 of Chapter 8 tomorrow. That means that you should make sure you’ve got Sets 1 & 2 done for Lesson I and II. Hope that makes sense!

Hey guys and gals–

Try to get in and create an account so that you can post things without me having to approve your comments. Let me know if you need help with this. -m

Test Today (Dec 5 07)

There are still are a few kiddos who need to finish the test from today so I won’t get into specifics!

We took our test today, a few did well, and others hit a wall. No worries–just yet. I want all missed problems reworked and a written explanation done of what went wrong (on notebook paper, attached).

We’ll spend the next few days evaluating ways to relearn what we’ve been working on and find ways for you to demonstrate your learning.

(If you are reading this saying, “What the…” — it’s probably not meant for you!)

The Answers (Dec 5 07)

Matthew's Bad! (Dec 5 07)

I forgot to bring home the answers for the review sheet!!!!!

So, we’ll spend time at the beginning of our time tomorrow going over the answers, and then you can move on to your test.

Remember you can write anything you want on your review sheet.

Sorry gals & dudes! :/

Transfer...

I'm going to be transferring all of our old posts from wordpress over to here.  It may take awhile.
